A bunch of you told me you wanted to know how to play pop music on violin without sounding so classical.
So this is for that.
I used the song Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa and cover:
- rhythm exercises (slow down the video if it’s too hard)
- how to play the vocal melody on the violin in a way that is not so classical sounding
- how to make the loop
- improvised play back
Get down with it here.
The first video below is a play along in which you can do rhythm exercises, see how the loop was made, play back melodies, and play over the groove by yourself at the end to the song Don’t Start Now by Duo Lipa.
The second video is my version of the vocal melody
The third video is a one minute improvisation over top of the loop. As usual, I created all parts of the loop with my violin. (Creating the loops is part of how I practice).
Enjoy!
