Christian Howes and Bobby Floyd

A mentorship and friendship which began in Columbus, Ohio has blossomed over 20-plus years into a deep musical connection. Christian and Bobby offer a mix of gospel, swing, and jazz that places inspiration over technique. (Available in duo or quartet with bass and drums).

“Inspirational” is a term Bobby Floyd and Christian Howes like to refer to most when it comes to making music. Drawing from repertoire including Jazz, Gospel, R and B, and Popular/Inspirational songs, their shows aim above all else to inspire listeners to feel good.

Christian and Bobby first started playing together in Columbus, Ohio, prior to Christian’s move to NYC. Over the past 21 years they have worked on numerous projects together, while simultaneously garnering acclaim in their own projects, even as Christian worked with the likes of Les Paul, Bill Evans, Spyro Gyra, and Bobby took on Count Basie’s piano chair and worked with the likes of Dr. John and Ray Charles.

“Bobby has long been widely considered the university of the streets in Columbus, passing on the oral tradition to younger musicians like me who were drawn to it. After all these years, having worked with many big names in the business, I still see him as one of my greatest mentors, musically and personally”.

Their shows draw from a long tradition of playing for diverse audiences in diverse settings, whether in duo (violin and piano), quartet (with bass/drums/violin and either piano or B-3 Organ).

This violin and piano duo from Columbus draws upon their 20-year history of collaboration to showcase repertoire including Jazz, Gospel, R and B, and Popular/Inspirational songs. The duo is often augmented by the addition of bass and drums and/or B-3 organ
